Fines from 20,000 to 100,000 NTD. - In response to the spread of the H7N9 avian influenza epidemic, the Council of Agriculture has announced that the slaughtering of live poultry is prohibited from May 17, 2013 in retail markets and temporary areas (sections/sites) for vendors. The city will form a joint investigation team for illegal slaughter to carry out the investigation. Once illegal slaughter of poultry is found, a fine of NT$20,000 to NT$100,000 will be imposed in accordance with the provisions of the Animal Husbandry Law; those who repeat offending will be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of less than one year or being fined below 100,000 Taiwan dollars.
- Environmental pollution caused by illegal poultry slaughter will be inspected by the Department of Environmental Protection and fined NT$1,200 to NT$6,000 in accordance with the provisions of the Waste Disposal Law. If not being improved by the deadline, the offender shall be fined continuously daily.
