Market Name | Taipei City Fish Wholesale Market |
History and Characteristics | Currently there are two fish markets in Taipei, one is on Wanda Road, the other is Binjian Market. Those who are familiar with fish markets know that fresh fish and seafood can be sought as long as you arrive in the early morning. Every morning at 2am, fishery products from all around Taiwan are delivered to the markets. After licensed fish vendors auction for the fisheries, they will start distributing them right there at the market's retail handling area. Fish is then cut, separated, packed and delivered to restaurants and consumers. Taipei City Fish Wholesale Market is also known as the "Tsukiji of Taipei" fish market, which has drawn many foreign tourists for a visit here. |
