History and Characteristics
Carrefour was founded in France in 1959. In 1963, the first hypermarket opened in France. It ranks among the world's leading retail groups. It is the largest local hypermarket in France and also in other European countries and Taiwan. Carrefour's famous and eye-catching red, blue, and white corporate logo looks simple, but it is meaningful. The logo contains Carrefour's corporate vision and commitment to consumers since its inception. This corporate logo first appeared in 1966. The design concept comes from Carrefour's initial C. A blue arrow extends from the right end of C, and a red arrow at the left end, symbolizing that those customers from all directions are constantly gathering towards Carrefour. Carrefour on the logo's side is the French name of Carrefour's parent company. In Taiwan, it translates as "Jia-Le-Fu," which means "happy every family" and fully echoes Carrefour's business philosophy. Carrefour currently has more than 100 stores in Taiwan and has a diversified development of store types, such as hypermarket, Bian-Li-Gou, and online shopping.
